The Ford Service Reset procedure is used after an engine oil change or scheduled maintenance to reset the oil life monitoring system and remove the service reminder from the instrument cluster.
Method 1: Using Steering Wheel Controls
Turn the ignition ON without starting the engine.
Use the steering wheel buttons to access the main menu on the instrument cluster.
Navigate to:
Settings → Vehicle → Oil Life ResetSelect Oil Life Reset.
Press and hold the OK button until the display shows "Reset Successful" or "Oil Life Set to 100%".
Turn the ignition OFF and restart the vehicle to confirm the service indicator has been cleared.
Method 2: Accelerator and Brake Pedal Reset
This method is commonly used on many Ford models when the menu reset option is unavailable.
Turn the ignition ON without starting the engine.
Fully press and hold the accelerator pedal.
Fully press and hold the brake pedal at the same time.
Continue holding both pedals for approximately 20–30 seconds.
The display will show "Service: Oil Reset in Progress".
Wait until "Service: Oil Reset Complete" appears.
Release both pedals and switch the ignition OFF.
Restart the vehicle and verify that the service reminder has been reset.
Notes
The exact menu layout may vary depending on the Ford model and production year.
Always perform the reset only after completing the required maintenance service.
If the service message remains active, repeat the procedure or check for stored maintenance-related fault codes using a diagnostic scanner.
